Formula1 Freaks Fly-in

Its an exciting new year for Formula1. The radically-revised aerodynamic regulations, slick tyres and new KERS (whatever that means) has turned the grid on its head.

The emergence of Brawn with a 1-2 finish on debut, no finish for the Ferraris and a slow McLauren car - all signs of an exciting new F1 season.

Personally, Im really excited abt VJM02 which was built in 120 days with only 8 days of testing returing to the pits 9th and 11th.

So, whats your take on the new F1 season?

It may become an interesting season but I really find the new cars ugly with the huge front wing and the tiny high rear wing !

The results earned by Brawn, Williams, and Toyota are provisional, pending an upcoming appeal against a ruling on the legality of the teams' diffuser design...

Yeah... I did find the logo-less sponsor-less plain-white-with-a-pista-outline Brawns' pretty ugly.

The diffuser designs of the Brawn could play a crucial role in the coming races. And if the appeal goes against Brawn, then Force India are surely gonna pick up a couple of points

When was the last time Ferrari's failed to finish? Im actually bored of the Ferrari domination in F1. Its time for a few fresh faces on the podium.

Completely Agree... I bet there be lots of new sponsors after the 1-2... Also seems like Richard Branson (Virgin) is planning to put some more money into Brawn GP... interesting!

As a F1 fanatic I'm actually more excited about the 2010 sesson, seems like theres going to be quite a few new teams... be nice to see more than 20 cars again.

Well, its kinda surprising that Branson did not buy the team. But the interviews he gave justifying his decision, did make sense though...

The idea of writing out tens of millions of dollars for a sponsorship is just something that Virgin hasn't done in the past or needed to do .... but at the right value then it makes sense.

Before Brawn decided to take up Honda, Bernie even thought abt having 3 cars per team to fill up the pits. Can you imagine that?

Juan Pablo Montoya didn't know where the brakes where... but does Juan Reyes know his?

It(Hamilton) was 3rd, though it started at 15th position.Slow ??

But ya it was some luck due to that last few laps crash between Kubica and Vettel (such a pity).

Brawn,Red Bull and BMW seems to be good this season.

But in looks its "Force India", something which Mallya is always good at maintaining.

I agree.

The McLaren was not slow by any means; I believe Hamilton started 18th after a gearbox problem demoted him with only the 2 Toyota's starting from the pits behind him. He did some fantastic overtaking moves too...

I will hope to see something different but for sure Brawn will be taken back some positions because the claim from other "big" teams always eat the small teams, I hope not to happen but after watching and following so many seasons I doubt this year things will be different in this desitions from Bernie and his group.

F1 in the last years has become boring to me, always the same teams wins or finished in the first positions with some exceptions and I really hope this year will be totally different and altough I am a MB/McLaren fan, the necesity for a change is evident and hopefully this new rules will make the competition more even.

About Ferrari not finishing, it is not usuall but for sure for the next race the difference in the car will be obvious, I remember that happening a few years ago because of a fuel pump problem in both cars, they found the problem was on materials used, fixed and at the next race they were flying around the track so I think for the next race this season Ferrari will finish in good positions or probably win the race.

Well, there you said it.. 'radically-revised regulations' -- it's a matter of time to see which team adapts quickly (or recover) and get on the boards.

Stunning finish for McLaren but I'm still and always will a Ferrari fan. The no-podium (even point finish) of Ferrari hopefully would not happen again.

Pre-Melbourne-practice-sessions McLauren had admitted their cars were slower this time round. So I guess they managed to fix it a bit plus you gotta give credit to Hamilton. He's definately not a one-race or on-championship wonder!!! He's got all the moves.

F1 in the last years has become boring to me..

You cant be saying the same about the 2007 Championship, where it could have have gone either of three ways on the very last race of the season.

I was beginning to celebrate, before I read the last sentence:

The governing body has also lifted Trulli's penalty, which places the Toyota driver back into the third position he originally achieved in Australia.

That would effectively mean Force India still is point-less.... for now

Force India initially finished 10 and 12. Jarno Trulli getting penalised 25 secs meant FI finished 9 and 11. You need to finish at least 8th to get a point.

Now with Hamilton disqualified and Trulli, regaining his initial 3rd spot means, it leaves FI at 9 and 11...
