Hi Prince Sharma -

Although I think quantum computing is not yet ready for prime time, your more general question is well worth considering.

For example, suppose a bunch of money-men and money-women came to SAP with a billion Euros in venture capital and said - OK - we want SAP software extended to the new commerical sectors developing out of certain scientific advances, e.g. the personalized medicine sector developing out of genomic research.

Why shouldn't SAP take their money? Why wouldn't it ?

I am not sure about quantum computing... but specifically SAP develops the application layer and it is usually upto the hardware vendors / partners like IBM to offer faster and more innovative means to achieve better performance / cost etc..

One thing of interest is the BI accelerator where IBM has looked at using its patents in indexing and memory development to accelerate queriy performance...

As said above this becomes hardware specific... but then worth checking out from your point of view..

Hi David,

You are right, quantum computing is not ready as yet. Point is if SAP wouldn't do it someone else would. After all, our "billion dollar" industry is based on someone's theory.
