SAC Chart fails to render when using dimension with text association instead of attribute

In SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC) stories using a Datasphere model, a chart fails to render when the dimension "Lieferant" (Supplier) is used directly. The error message displayed is: "No data is available for the chart to render."

However, when using the attribute "Lieferant (Business)" of the same dimension — which is simply derived from "Lieferant" and contains only the ID — the chart renders correctly, even with the hierarchy dimension "Bestelldatum" (Order Date).

The dimension "Lieferant" includes a text association for the supplier name. Users need the ability to display both the supplier ID and the supplier text (name) in separate columns within the story. Currently, this is not possible because the chart does not render when the dimension with the text association is used directly.

This behavior is inconsistent: the attribute (ID only) works, but the full dimension (with text association) does not. There is no obvious reason why the dimension itself should fail to render while its attribute works fine.

To address this scenario effectively, it is recommended reviewing the following points to ensure a resolution:

1. Since this story is based on the live Datasphere Analytic Model, it is recommended to check whether this issue can also be reproduced in Datasphere Analytic Model preview.

This can be checked by logging into the Datasphere system, accessing the Analytic Model that this SAC story connects to, and entering the Preview mode of this Analytic Model. In this Analytic Model Preview, please kindly add the same measures, dimensions as well as dimension attributes. Then, please kindly check whether the same behaviour can also be observed in this Datasphere Analytic Model Preview. If yes, this issue may need to be further investigated from the Datasphere perspective.

2. If this issue cannot be reproduced in Datasphere Analytic Model Preview, please kindly check which language has been set in SAC User Profile and Datasphere User Profile for this user who accesses both the Datasphere Analytic Model Preview and SAC story. Please kindly verify that the language settings for this user have been configured identically in both the SAC User Profile and the Datasphere User Profile.

If the language settings in the User Profile for both SAC system and Datasphere system are already aligned, and the issue persists solely within the SAC story, further investigation into the design of the SAC story may be required.
