SUM - DMO with SYSTEM Move : Export file transfer Speed is Very Low (RISE with SAP)

Hi Experts,

Good Day.!

We have currently performing a SUM DMO with SYSTEM move and have identified that there is a Significant slowness during the data (File System Export) transfer stage (copying SUM Directory) from on Premises to Migration server (RISE Env.).

System Information as follows:

On Premises (Source)

Application Server : ERP 6.0 EHP06 (NW 7.31)

Database : Oracle Database 12.1.0.2

OS : AIX 7.1

IBM Power Hardware.

Migration Server (Target)

Application Server : ERP 6.0 EHP07 (NW 7.40)

Database : HANA 2.0 SP05

OS : SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 15 SP06

Network Bandwidth is 1GBps. It is dedicated line established from On-premise SAP servers to Migration server.

The approach is SUM DMO with SYSTEM move, after executing the SUM on source system, we have copied the SUM directory from source to target (SUM directory size is approximately 400GB).

But the copying speed of SUM directory is less than 4mbps.

The estimated time is 2days. So we could not perform migration in Production (Live system) due long downtime period. We have used scp command to move the files between servers.

I would like to know how that;

What could be the possible reason for such kind of low transfer throughput despite having a dedicated 1 Gbps link?

Are there any recommended tools, parameters (OS, SAP) or best practices from SAP for transferring the SUM directory?

Has anyone experience similar kind of issue?

Thank you in advance for your support.

Best Regards,

Nishatharu

Hi Nishatharu,

you can use rsync or just use sftp.

rsync command is quite similar to scp

rsync -avz [FILE] [USER]@[ADDRESS]:[PATH]

br
