ADT Code Completion is (Still) Slow

Hello all,

as mentioned in a previous Q&A which was not answered, ADT code completion is still unusably slow.

When typing in SE38 with my normal typing speed, I can eaily get code completions when pressing tab:

However, when typing with the same speed in eclipse I am always too fast for the code completion, as it takes roughly twice as long to show compared to SE38

Which is simply unacceptable. This needs to be fixed ASAP.

Hello cafeteria_fraiche,

I see that the code completion in ADT Eclipse is slower than in SAP GUI SE38. In ADT Eclipse we have more frameworks in use than in SAP GUI stack.

Unfortunately we cannot improve the performance to a point where is as fast as in SAP GUI.
On the other hand the code completion in ADT Eclipse can also perform using wildcards, for example "obj->get*name" which may present proposals such as "get_name" and "get_surname" and "get_middle_name".

Hi Ünal, thank you for your response. Great that this issue is already known and the cause for the slow downs also. I think it would be great to fix these issues as the cause is known. Wildcards are great, but I would love to have a responsive (and working) editor over "nice to have features". An option to disable those to gain this responsiveness is appreciated!
