Fiori Elements Objectpage Extension: Manipulate data received from backend odata service

Is there a way to intercept & manipulate data received from backend oData service, before it is rendered on a Smarttable on the Objectpage UI?

This is for an app built based on Fiori Elements List report, which navigates to a detailed Object page as default behavior. Object page has a Smarttable built using ABAP CDS annotations (UI.facet.type = #LINEITEM_REFERENCE) https://help.sap.com/docs/abap-cloud/abap-rap/using-facets-to-change-object-page-layout

I added a controller extension to the Object page and I am able to receive various events triggered during data fetch. I tried using datareceived & requestcompleted

Both these events are triggered too late and after update. I would like to know if there is any other way to intercept the oData call to manipulate data.

If there is no way to do this, is it possible to set up a mock server, to act as a bridge between the UI and actual backend? Are there any risks of using a mock server for this purpose in a Productive environment?

@junwu The data received from backend must be altered before it is displayed in the Smarttable. I would like to be able to add more rows, change certain values in existing rows etc.
