Test Automation Software

Our company is starting the process of implementing SAP S4/HANA (greenfield), replacing a legacy ERP of over 30 years. We feel one of the important new tools to bring along is a Test automation tool (Trecentis, Worksoft, Panaya, etc.) but it is not the easiest technology to assess. They all seem similar, so I wanted to reach out to this community to see if there was any insight based off of the experiences with SAP S4 + other applications. We would also like to test the functionality of Salesforce and our MES (web based) as well as the integrations between these applications and the ERP. As an additional input we are planning on using SAP's Cloud ALM product and would like the testing software to integrate into that platform.

Hi,

besides Test Automation Tool that is embedded in SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition and integrated with SAP Cloud ALM we have Tricentis Test Automation to support all other SAP Solutions for automated Testing and is also integration with SAP Cloud ALM.

Since you’ll also be testing Salesforce, MES, and the integrations, it’s important to see how smoothly each tool can run end-to-end scenarios across different systems. It’s also worth examining SAP Cloud ALM integration closely, as support there is still evolving and can vary between vendors. A good approach is to narrow the list down to a couple of tools, run a pilot on real business processes, and compare how straightforward it is to create and maintain tests, as well as how the reporting and ALM integration hold up. In some cases, teams also bring in external expertise for guidance—partners experienced in custom software development, such as Idea Maker , can help design pilot approaches or streamline integration efforts. That usually provides much more useful insight than relying solely on vendor demos.
