Question Re: Thoughts on Improvements to Fiori Apps Reference Library in Technology Q&A

For us the main information that is missing is, for new apps. In Public Cloud a lot of new apps are released. It would be cool if there was a flag if these apps are also planned for a future delivery to on-prem/private cloud. When the specific release (FPS or major) is known, this could even be added. We understand that there are some functionalities that are limited to public cloud and will never make it to on-prem/private cloud. I guess that's also the reason for the code split between public cloud and on-prem/private cloud. Hence, such a flag would make sense. Anyone else who is missing that information?

Thoughts on Improvements to Fiori Apps Reference Library

The information that the Fiori Apps Library provides is impressive. SAP has packed an impressive set of instructions for implementation, configuration, role assignment and catalog structure into each of the apps described in Fiori Apps Library.

But the search capabilities is limited, inadequate and awkward at best. Here are a few pain points:

First you're faced to select between some ambiguous choices: All Apps, Fiori Apps, BTP Apps, Lighthouse Apps,... For a business or functional user looking to see if there is an app that satisfies their business requirements, these choices are irrelevant and meaningless. Most of the time they want to search by keywords. Limiting the search right off the bat to a set of choices that most of the time do not makes sense to the user provides for an awkward and unpleasant experience.

The next hurdle is when you finally do get to search, and try searching for a keyword, like Business Partners. You are now faced with a single-column list of 100's of results that is practically impossible to pick from. The results are not in a table format, with columns specifying catalogs, business roles, type of tiles, etc. so the user of the App Library can intelligently pick what they are looking for, instead of guessing and clicking on random apps to see more information about each, going back to the list and clicking on another one.

Which brings up the next extremely annoying issue; your choice of SAP S/4/HANA version does not stick! Every time you look at another app, you need to remember to select your version again before looking at the details, otherwise it defaults back to the latest version. I cannot count the number of hours of wasted time this has caused our development team.

I think the amazing Fiori Element List-Report template would be a perfect choice for the Fiori Apps Library site. Present the user with a set of search options to allow categorized search capabilities, and display the results in a tabular format with columns that help the user sort, filter and find the app they are looking for. We have one of the best platforms for structured searching and reporting (Fiori Elements), it is a shame that the Fiori App Library still carries such an out-dated and awkward search capability for their bible of Fiori apps.

Something like this:

Again, I think the Fiori Apps Library represents an impressive source of well-categorized information and instructions about implementing Fiori apps. But the search capabilities is a weakness and in dire need of an update.

Interested in knowing if anyone else feels we are due for an update?

Thanks.
