Webi: Optional Parameter/prompt in Subquery

Hello all,

we are using BO/Webi 4.3:

I am building a query based on a universe. Query filter contains a subquery, the subquery has where clause on a column with an optional parameter/prompt.

Is it possibble to achive, that the subquery disappears when NOT entering a value for the optional parameter?

It should have the same behavior as if the optional parameter was used in the main query.

Either you are overthinking this or I am misunderstanding your requirement.

I built 3 queries based on the eFashion universe.

All Cities in Texas with product sales in the Leather Line...

All Cities in Texas with product sales in the Leather Line and optional Category prompt...

All product sales in the for Cities in Texas in the Leather Line with product sales in the Leather Line and optional Category prompt..

Here are the results when I choose "Jackets" as the Category...

And here are the result when I do not choose a value for Category...

In summary, I think it will work how you think it should. Give it a try.

thanks for the example.

However, I would like to make sure that the subquery is not built into the main query at all and executed if the parameter is not populated.

In my use case, a value should be delivered with the input of the optional parameter (very selective). If the parameter is not entered, then all values would be selected, which are then too many (millions) and the total query becomes too slow.
