General Application Maintenance

Hi,

We have an installation of Data Services 4.2 SP3 and Business objects. We would like to know how we can do some regular maintenance on our applications as we understand that this is a older installation.

We are looking for any log clean ups, database clean up and other things of the sort that we can do to keep our systems healthy.

Dear Customer,

In general, regularly clearing the log cache is good practice for maintaining the Data Services application. Refer below KBA-

1711645 - How to control deletion of logs using the log retention setting - Data Services

1682554 - How to compact or cleanup the repository - Data Services 4.x

Since you are on a very old version, we always recommend to be on the latest supported application version so you can have all the new features. Please also refer the Product availability matrix (Page 85) Maintenance Strategy for more information.
