Task Mining / Automated Process Discovery

We're in talks with Automation Anywhere and UP Path and looking at Power Automate/Minit with a view to automated process discovery. Ideally we'd like to use observed data to generate first pass BPMN 2.0 diagrams without human intervention. Does anyone know of software which can do this? All the apps we've looked at require manual intervention to create a process diagram and none of them can export it for reuptake in Signavio.

Hi Susan, can you better elaborate what's your objective? What's the expected outcome of your talks/analysis with/on Automation Anywhere, UI Path, Power Automate and Minit?
In SAP Signavio Process Intelligence you can automatically generate a BPMN model out of your observed data.
We have a partnership with Automation Anywhere (Fortress IQ) as task mining solution.

To elaborate: we would like to put the automated process discovery software onto target computers, perform task mining and generate the PDD (Process Definition Document which can also function as Work Instructions) So far, this is what we are doing already.

But then we would like to go further and use the PDD to automatically create a sequence of tasks in a logical flow using BPMN 2.0 to create a process diagram which can be uploaded into Signavio. This is probably going to require AI/ML to decide which actions belong together. The timings of and associations between actions (in a sufficiently large data set) should allow us to do this.

So in a nutshell, we want to set up observers on business computers and have a first pass diagram pop up in Signavio, ready for a Process Analyst to review it with the SMEs. There will naturally be gaps where tasks/activities were performed without the aid of a computer, i.e. telephone call to customer, and the LPA/SME will need to fix the process diagram. But we want the initial process diagram/map to be generated automatically and without human intervention.

One possibility I am exploring is to use the Process Intelligence facilities to upload the PDD data in .csv format with a view to auto creating a rudimentary map.

I would foresee the following process:
- task mining software to collect task data and generate the PDD

- integration with SAP Signavio Process Intelligence to ingest such data and build and event/task-log

- Play with the variant explorer to select the target variants and generate a BPMN model out of it

Right now we don't have any complete and productive tech integration with AA or any other task mining vendor, but we are working on it. The second step could be done by either (1) static data extract/import, or by (2) building a custom middleware logic (eg: with data intelligence or cloud integration).
This would help avoiding using AI/ML, by leveraging on the standard Process Intelligence capabilities. The limitation I see is that currently we can select up to 20 variants, but we are working on it.
