SAP BTP - Cloud Foundry CLI user

Dear all,

we want to create a ci/cd pipeline with gitlab and deploy our apps directly from gitlab after building. We are facing the question how to login with the cloud foundry cli because we want to use a kind of api user.

The command to login to the cli would be

cf login -a $api_endpoint -u $user -p $password -o $organization_dev -s $space_dev

Apparently no one want to create environment variables in gitlab with their credentials. How can we create a secret key for the cloud foundry cli. We did not found it in the discover center or elsewhere. Or do we need to create a technical sap user?

I only know about the option with the technical user. Maybe you could also raise an incident with SAP Support to get some guidance here.

Hm - to be honest, this is not what I wanted to hear 🙂

I also tried to create a new CF user with the CLI but it is not working because it seems I have no permissions. I think it is not able to create CF users that way for the SAP CF.

cf create-user USERNAME PASSWORD

Gives me permission denied.

Does anyone know an other way?

I have a similar issue and a technical user could solve that issue for me. Is there any "how to get/request such technical user" wiki or other documentation?

Hi gregorw -- We too want to access CF API using technical user, but what exactly is a technical user in BTP world since all logins are associated via email ids against an IdP? How is it created ?
