Error Running MDK Client - DemoSampleApp

I'm in the midst of following this tutorial https://developers.sap.com/tutorials/cp-mobile-dev-kit-build-client.html

MDK client was created successfully. However, when running the MDK client either in device or emulator, I found below error :

An uncaught Exception occurred on "main" thread.
Unable to create application sap.mdkclient.MDKAndroidApplication: com.tns.NativeScriptException: Error calling module function
Error calling module function
Error calling module function
TypeError: Cannot read property 'ui' of undefined
File: (file:///data/data/com.sap.mdk.demo/files/app/tns_modules/mdk-sap/FormCell/ActivityHandler/ActivityHandler.js:15:48)

Please advise if I've missed any steps while building the MDK SDK. Thank you.

What version of MDK are you using? Are you building on Windows or Mac?

I recently dowloaded the MDK, so it's version 5.1.3-001. I am building on windows 8.1.

I completed the create MDK client successfully, and the DemoSampleApp was also deployed to device/emulator. However, the error comes when running the app.

I would suggest upgrading to MDK 5.1.5 as the first step. Then confirm the dependency installer shows everything in compliance. If you can also share the structure of .mdkproject that might be helpful as well.

Regarding the error, when does that occur? Immediately? After onboarding? During use?

It looks like MDK 5.1.5 is just a week old. So updating it will have to wait until I get the approval for downloading the source.

Here is the .mdkproject structure. It is just the copy of template.mdkproject

Onboarding was successful. Then the error happens during the first time use.

And do you have anything in your metadata or extensions folder?

Metadata and extensions folder contain nothing. As explained earlier, the DemoSampleApp.mdkproject is truly just a copy of template.mdkproject contained in the MDKClient_SDK folder.

I updated the mdk sdk to version 5.1.5. Everything went well, except when running the DemoSampleApp in the device, command "tns run android --device <device identifier>". The same error message appeared.

Please advise if any clue. Thank you

I am able to successfully run the branded client (built using MDK SDK 5.1.5) on both Android device (Samsung galaxy) and emulator (Nexus 5X API 29).

If you still have issues, i can test against your .mdkproject, please share it via DM or log a support ticket.
