SAP IDM Future State

Hi All,

Good day.

This is a generic query thought of asking on IDM state in future.

What will be the future status of IDM, will there be further versions or updates ?

What is suggestion if any one freshly start learning SAP IDM in 2021 and what certifications you prefer as i see there is no straight certification available for IDM.

Hi Aravind,

there are some blogs on the Internet where you can get information about the future of SAP IdM.

Let me know if you don't find them - e.g. on LinkedIn, I will point you to some.

As you probably know the support has been officially extended until 2027 and you can validate that using the PAM (Product Availability Matrix).

SAP IdM remains strategic within SAP for one main reason - there is no alternative currently.

For the future, i believe that changes and improvements will happen over the Continuous improvement program, which runs since last year.

As for certification, as far as i know there is none, but you can surely take part of the standard SAP IdM course - ADM920, which should give you a pretty good idea about idea. However, it is not going to prepare you to be a good IdM consultant out-of-the-box. This happens only with experience and getting your hands dirty.

Todor- what happens after 2027? Would customer need to move to a cloud platform or SAP will discontinue the IDM products?
