Mobile Development Kit - HERE Maps

Hi All,

Is it possible to show HERE Maps in the Mobile development kit, as an extension? In this tutorial, they have used Google Maps.

Hi,

we did not find any option to change the URL of the maps provider and based on our analysis the format of the tile data was not the same as it is in OpenStreetMap. So we developed our own extension using the standard geometry objects.

The benefit is the additional flexibility. For example we use our own OpenStreetmap Server, have additional overlays and we can display different images to specify the type of equipment directly in the map as well. Things that had not been possible in the version of this addon at the time of our analysis.

The tutorial for adding the map uses the native map classes in the SDKs (Google maps for Android and Apple Maps for iOS). It is not a web view where there is simply a URL to render the map.

Assuming the HERE maps has an appropriate SDK for Android or iOS then you should be able to create an extension control to call the HERE APIs to render their map in your application. A quick search of the HERE website seems to indicate an SDK is available but you would need to dig into it to determine if it has the functionatliy you requre.
