Hi Experts,

is it possible to convert .doc document to .pdf programatically. There are FM for converting .docx to PDF. There is no direct method for .doc files. Some links in SCN suggest about generating spool and converting that to PDF. I am trying to generate spool using 'RSPO_SR_TABLE_WRITE_BINARY' and then convertng to pdf, but this is not happening. In the spool it is binary data and using CONVERT_ABAPSPOOLJOB_2_PDF FM giving the spool number. But is says the "Spool request contains no ABAP list data".

CONVERT_ABAPSPOOLJOB_2_PDF is only able to convert a simple Abap generated spool (write statement) when CONVERT_OTFSPOOLJOB_2_PDF is able to convert an OTF spool (Generated by Sapscript or Smart Forms)

As recent word version (docx) use a public format, there are tools to do the job, but older word version (.doc) are in a Microsoft ™ proprietary format and should use Ms tools to generate a spool (e.g. call OLE2 if an active connection to GUI exists) so don't expect much in terms of Abap functions.

You could look for available tools that carry the conversion and install one on the Application Server then executing some command (SM49) on the server to execute the conversion. (use search tool/google)

ABAP is a business language. It usually does not provide libraries for converting formats except for very rare cases from ABAP-based formats to non-ABAP formats like PDF, but not from non-ABAP formats to non-ABAP formats, except if it's very simple to do as with text formats. .DOC could be classified as a binary format, not a text format.
