Hi, experts,

I am having trouble with understanding what are access context and access control and how to use them.

Please help me understand.

My objective is simple : to show Purchase Orders according to specific suppliers.

I have even tested it. And it was a success.

The most complicated part for me is "Edit Access Rights" stage.

Can you please explain "Access Context" and the configuration of "Access Rights" of a business user?

Hmm let me try (it's also not the every-day task for me )

Access Context:

Definition of the restrictions which can be used, like employees or cost center or ...

Can be one or more restriction

In a Business Object it is defined for a dedicated Access Context which element (employee, cost center, ...) inside the BO is used for the resp. restriction.

You add such an Access Context to an OWL and it is reflected in the Application & User Management

Access Rights:

Fill the value for the restrictions defined in the steps above for a given user.

Result:

The user has some values for some restriction based for some OWL based on the resp. Access Context.

If the OWL is accessed the system can check if the values form the Access Rights and the BO data resulting from the query matches.

If yes, data is shown
If no, data is not shown.

Get the idea and how to use it. Thanks to you.

Just some more questions though.

1. Is it possible to change the Access Context used in a standard OWL?

2. Is it possible to create custom Access Context?

3. Can I ask for a new Access Context from SAP for my requirement?

Here is my use case.

I want to show Purchase Orders resricted to Suppliers under Inbound Logistics Work Center.

But he the work center view Purchase Orders under Inbound Logistics only contain access context of 1008-Site.

Sorry to say, but I am afraid that all answers are: No.

The first two topics are for sure not possible.

But You can always ask.

So, ask for a new / different Access Context for WCV Purchase Orders.

And explain your use case. Maybe the colleagues can help you, in one way or another.
