XML Export and Import

I knew that BW metadata can be trasformed using XML Using export and Imoport but how to make selection of set of BW objects through metadata export and import in XML format.

For example i would like to export some 10 infoobjects to the PC WORK Station and would like to Import the same XML file to another BW system.

Hi,

You can do it from RSA1 -> Transport Connection.

Under XML->Export, choose "InfoObjects by Application components". Then select the ones that you need to export and drag on the right pane.

Once you finish collecting all the InfoObjects, click on the "Export as XML" button and it will generate the XML.

But how i can select the meta data objects from metadeta repository and export/import these objects.

You cannot directly select objects from Metadata repository for exporting.

Then what is the way? So is it through Transport connection-->drag & drop and then export or import?

OR how to select meta data objects from meta data repository and export or import them to PC Workstation?

Then, what is the purpose of Export/Import in Metadata Repository?

I think you are referring to the "XML Import/Export" menu under Extras.

That menu is not specific to Metadata repository but also available when you go to Transport connection tab.

Basically it is one more way to do xml import/export. However, here you need to specify object name & type. Whereas in transport connection you can drag & drop.
