I was just wondering how can i access our existing SAP system from the outside of the office using an android phone?

For example i wanted to view reports but using an android device, is this possible? I have 0 SAP applications on my Android device.

It is possible to develop custom mobile apps connecting to SAP systems with SAP Mobile Platform or with NW gateway. That satisfies your specific requirement.

SAP also released many mobile apps that you can download and setup to work in your environment. The documents on the requirements and steps can be found in the SAP market place.

Currently we have multiple choices to develop a mobile app based on the business scenario you need in the mobile. ex. offline capability, multiple mobile OS support, SSO, push notifications etc. We have different technologies available to develop an enterprise app. This discussion might give you more idea on it,

There is will be a server in the middle of mobile devices and SAP server for communication.Ex. SAP Mobile server or NW gateway server. Ports will be opened in these server to that can be accessed in the public network used by mobile devices. For more security a relay server or a reverse proxy is used.
