Question Re: when use data federation feature in Technology Q&A

Andy,

If you are federating data, then it has to fit into a more generic form.

What you may want to do, for example, is prepare views in Oracle or SQL Server to present the data for federation rather than trying to achieve something at the federation layer. It's not just the IDT - I've faced this issue in another federation tool, so don't think of it as a negative for the IDT, more just a reality that you can't federate data and pick and choose which DBMS-specific code you'll use in the IDT.

What in particular are you trying to achieve?

Hi Mark,

we can implement multisource universe in IDT, but after 4.1, there is another data federation feature while creating data foundation layer. I am wondering we already have multi-source data foundation, why there design a new data federation feature separately?

Many Thanks,

andy
