Force setting of Default Values in WEBI 4.0 prompts based on BEx variables

Hello,

Environment:

BW, BEx Queries with BEx Variables for the prompts, WEBI 4.0 SP6, NO Universes

Requirement:

Create a prompt where the user can choose the month/year value + when the report is opened the Default Value is set to the "latest month" by using a customer exit.

Because the default value is not always the same, it changes every month, it needs to be dynamically created through a customer exit (BW).

"latest month" means: in 07.2013 it is 06.2013; in 08.2013 it is 07.2013; in 09.2013 it is 08.2013, so it changes based upon when the report is opened. This is done by the customer exit code, which is implemented and works. It can also be further adjusted by using offsets...

For example: it is 07.2013, the customer exit prefills the default/initial value in the prompt with 06.2013, the user changes it to 05.2013 and saves the WebI document. Another user opens the same document in 07.2013, but the prompt is prefilled with 05.2013 and not with 06.2013.

The requirement is, when the report is opened by any user in 07.2013, the default value needs to be prefilled with 06.2013.

Problem:

WebI remembers the last selected value for prompts based on BEx variables.

In case of Report level prompt there is a setting option to uncheck "Keep Last Value Selected". But I can't use a report level prompt, because there it is not possible, as far as I know, to set the default values dynamically (other value for month.year depending on when the report is opened).

Is there a similar functionality (do not keep/remember last value) for prompts based on BEx variables?

Is there a way to force the WEBI prompt based on a BEx Variable to prefill the default value regardless of what was selected previously in the prompt and with what values the report was last saved?

when saving the report purge all data and purge the list of values.

As Ingo says, before you export or saved report on server you have to purge all report data.

and then save it.

Thanks to all for your help.

It works. I wasn't aware that it is possible to also clear/purge the prompts with it.

In all reports we were/are already using the "Refresh on Open" functionality which purges the document automatically but not the prompts.

It's good that it is possible to also purge the prompts with this "purging" functionality.

Hi David,

I have similar requirement . Can you let me know how did you achieved last month as default at BEX level using customer exit (Steps). I have Startdate characteristics and I need to make previous month as default.
