Data Source Transport between BW systems

Hello Gurus,

I need to transport DEV BW to QUA BW.

I am Transporting like this;

Info Area

Info Objects

DSOs

Data Sources

Info Packages

Transformations

DTPs

Process Chains

I enhanced the Data Sources and made transports straight away from DEV ECC to QUA ECC.

I transported everything but Data Sources. We have 2 required data sources out of three in quality BW in 3.5 version and 1 data source is missing but we have it in quality ECC (no changes made on this datasource).

Now, when I am transporting data sources from DEV BW to QUA BW the system is not doing anything (Just idle, not even giving error messages). The data sources are not ''checked'' under ''Transport''. All the settings are default.

Can you guys please clarify my doubt?

BTW, Did you try replicating post transport?

While Transporting select the option "Overwrite originals" and when you retransport select also the option Reimport the request (im not sure abt the exact description of this option)

My suggetion would be to recollect the issue objects and transport with the option "Overwrite originals" enabled.

Do you mean in ECC. Then no, I did not replicate the data sources after ECC transports.

If you mean in BW. Then I Couldn't transport them in the first place.

I couldn't find the option ''Overwrite Orginals''. Is it in transport connection or can you please give route to go there.

1) go to STMS tcode

2) click on transport(truck) symbol.

3)In this screen double click on your QA system(you will have all the systems here).

4)Now you will see the transport requests present in your QA system queue.(this is called transport queue).

5)Just refresh the queue once to get the latest released transports.

Thank you Kalpana for revising my curriculum. But, what I am struggling with is the Data saources in BW.

I can't transport them in the first place. So, how can I release them with out transporting them.

If you can suggest me how to transport this datasources in this circumstances. Then that would be very much helpful.

Hi Phanindra,
Will you be able to tell the datsources you are using.You need to send the data sources in ECC first -> then check RSA3 if the extraction for that data source is taking place-> post extraction check please replicate the data source in BW and then send the datsource in BW.

Hi Phani,

I guess your concern is you have 3 data sources out of which 2 are already in BW QA but not the 3rd one (which is present in ECC QA), now you are transporting the Data source to QA system.

Before transporting to BW QA have you replicated the data sources?

-- use transaction RSDS to replicate the individual data sources.

Replicate the data source to QA and reimport the data source transport to QA system this will work.

Please let us know if you need more info.

You issue is not clear... post it clearly if you are posting an issue.

Hi Phani,

Click on grey color truck symbol -- here you can get the option in the last tab i guess but not sure of this.If you are reimporting the transports you need to select that option.

select the option "over write originals"

Please find the screen shot below.. In STMS_IMPORT tcode whil importing the request we need to select the option

Hope by now you would have replicated the datasource from ECC if its new or any changes made...

Once its replicated... import the request with the "overwrite originals" optiion and then transport the transformation and rest other things...

Where you able to collect the data source???

I did everything you mentioned and I found out the following issue.

Data sources are active in all the systems. But when i am trying to transport this data sources all the data sources are in ''Modified'' status. (Development BW)

But I need to transport only Active Data sources, Right?...

Why are these Data sources with ''Modified'' eventhough they are active ? Can you please suggest me any other way make them available in ''Active''.

Hi Phani,

Once replicated to BW dev you need to activate the data sources and collect them into Transport so that the active version data sources are moved to QA and PROD.

(replicate will bring the same structre of the data source into BW with modified version not in active version in development system. you need to manually activate them)
