We have ECC and CRM systems that can be accessed through SAP GUI from portals. Few users are not able to access ECC in SAP GUI from both portals at a time.

I have tried suggesting the clear cookies and delete temporary internet files and other browser settings to no avail.

The system is on windows viata and IE8. Portal is having SP21 version.

It was previously on SP17 and was recently upgraded to SP21.

Please suggest any solutions.

Thanks,

Uday

The issue is, when user logs into say ECC from SAP GUI from Portal A, it is fine but when trying to do the same from portal B while portal A is still open he gets an error. I mean to say which ever portal say A or B is opened second there the issue occurs.

I have attached the screenshot of error. However it is not a SSO config error. From SSO point of view it is fine.

Regards,

Uday

Just check the FQDN of the portals.

The SSO cookie / ticket, usually contains the hostname only and not the portname. So the system accepts the SSO from the first but invalidates the one from second portal.

The following link mentions the reason too but the solution might not be same for you.

http://www.benxstore.com/benx(bD1lbiZjPTAwMQ==)/de/index.do?onInputProcessing(brai_thread)&001_thread_id=1875037%20&001_temp=R3TR%7CFUGR%7CELIN%7C%7CP01

... -.-.

Yes. But the issue seems to be only for a few users and not a common issue. However we a link where we can access ECC as Web GUI. I am speculating the possiblity where is it possible to access ECC from SAP GUI in one portal and WEB GUI from another.

Would it make a difference?

Please share the solution.

By saying "only for a few users and not a common issue" .. are you saying that some users CAN access ECC from both portals simultaneously??

That might explain why some users can connect to both the portals simultaneously.

I had come across such a similar issue regarding one ECC and two portals. The error was regarding a failed logon from one of them if user is already logged on from another. We had raised a message with SAP and after analysis of logs they had suggested the change in hostname, The reason behind it, as I had stated earlier, in the system details of the logon ticket, only the hostname is mentioned and not the port. In our scenario, both of the portals had same hostname but different port. Their solution worked for us.

Please do not fail to share the reason of the issue and the solution here.

Thanks,

... -.-.

I believe the problem you are facing has to do session management within your browser. You have to keep the sessions separate. In IE, you can achieve this by calling File -> New Session. In other browsers it might not be even possible to have separate sessions and even with IE policies might prohibit it.

Just add the parameter "-nomerge" to your IE shortcut and try it again.

Best regards,

Norman Schroeder
