Access a log file using link (url)

Hi,

i have an iView which is creating a log file (log.txt) in the ..\logs folder of the portal.

I want to access this through a link in my iView. ie. there is a link in the my UI, on which if the user clicks, the log file should open up in a new window.

How do i achive this. What will be the URL that i have to use to access this resource.

It would be of great help to me if someone could help me out with this.

This directory "logs" is in the private area of the portal runtime and is not directly accessible via URL. You have a few options:

1. Write a component that reads the log file itself and streams the content. Include a link to the reader component instead of a link to the file.

2. Use KM to create a repository that points to the logs directory. You can then use the KM interface to view the files, or use a link to the KM document viewer to view a specific file.

thanks for your reply. I think #1 is a better option in my case. If you have example code for these, then please do send it to me. It would be really very helpful as i quite new to the portal development environment.

This is not an answer to ur query, neverthless, could u tell me the location where these log files can be found on the portal dirctory. An exact path would be appreciated.

Hi Mee Kir,

I do not know if you mean the path for the log files, but there are several dependeing on the version you are using, for EP5 you can find them in alone\managers\console_logs... another path would be...SAP_J2EEngine6.20\alone\services\servlet_jsp\work\jspTemp\irj\root\WEB-INF\plugins\portal\logs... I hope you find this information useful.
