Question Re: Eclipse Oxygen&HANA Studio 2.0 Editor - Select Control Error in Technology Q&A

Hi,

Yes I believe I am facing the exact same issue. I have an Eclipse Oxygen environment setup, and when I open a view, change one label in the Semantics object I cannot get focus on another label (or most of the other fields). I have to save, close and reopen the view before I can change another field and so on, which is not practical.

Changing one field also triggered that same Progress message constantly popping up. I think I solved this by adding a parameter to my shortcut opening Eclipse that points the Eclipse environment to a particular Java 8 installation on my pc ie ...\eclipse.exe "C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.8.0_172\bin\javaw.exe"

This has solved the constant ...CheckAction.ui message polling in the Progress view, however it has not solved the original issue of only being able to change one field at a time.

I am suspecting it may be a Java issue, that is the path I am investigating at the moment.

Hi all;

We need some Calculation Views for a project and we are using Eclipse Oxygen for development. Our problem is interesting and i can not found any solution yet, also i did not even know how to search exactly.

Let's try..

After open Eclipse i change the Label of "SapClient", no error, changed as you can see below.

Our problem is starting right here, after that i can not change another Label or can not scrolling with scroll bars (not with mouse) or can not open drop down lists until reopen Eclipse...

I also install SAP Hana Studio 2.0 but same error occurs.

I just find somethings in "Progress" tab, that looping this two messages.

Anyone have same error or any suggestion for solution?

Thanks, best regards.

I think the problem is with the SAP Hana Tools plugin, specifically with version 2.3.39. This is the latest version and the only option (as far as I can see) to install when either going the Eclipse route, or upgrading the SAP Hana Studio stand alone install that you can download from the SAP Support site. I have confirmed that this bug exists with:
•Eclipse with SAP Hana Tools 2.3.39
•SAP Hana Studio 2 v 231 (packaged with SAP Hana Tools 2.3.39)
•SAP Hana Studio 2 v224 (packaged with SAP Hana Tools 2.3.39)

It does not happen with:
•SAP Hana Studio 2 v230 (packaged with SAP Hana Tools 2.3.35)

So it looks like the culprit is SAP Hana Tools 2.3.39, I am logging a call with SAP.

I'm not sure if it is possible to install an older/archive version of the SAP Hana Tools plugin in Eclipse? Anyone?

Some might ask why not just use the SAP Hana Studio package v230 that SAP provide? For us those packages are prone to losing connection to our Cloud Platform, causing you to lose whatever unsaved work you may have. So we have 3 options from SAP: Web IDE, SAP Hana Studio package or native Eclipse + SAP Hana plugins, none of which provide a satisfying experience at the moment.

Hi Bruce;

Thanks for detailed informations. I hope SAP will fix this bug.

I have another way to changes label, also we can use this way instead of Eclipse.

Use Hana WebIDE from link http://<domain>:<port>;/sap/hana/ide/editor/

Note: You must grant sap.hana.xs.ide.roles::Developer role to user.

The problem still exists in an Eclipse 4.7 environment, the issue seems to be with the SAP Hana Tools plugin 2.3.39. This is the latest plugin, and the only choice you have when setting up an Eclipse or Neon environment at the moment.

I have an incident in progress with SAP at the moment; they could not recreate the issue so I am in the process of sorting out how they can connect to my machine.

Hi, SAP have just got back to me and advised there is an issue in Studio version 2.3.39, and is still present in the latest version 2.3.40. The fix has been made and is Pending Release, presumably in the next version.

As far as I can see, there is no work around for the Eclipse environment approach until the new version is released as you only seem to have the option to download the latest SAP Hana Tools.

Your other option (if you have access) is to download the SAP packaged Hana Studio (..._230) from SMP as this has SAP Hana Tools 2.3.35 and does not have the issue.

Hi all.

Until SAP does not release the bug fix, you can use the old version Eclipse Mars which is not having this issue.

Eclipse Mars: https://www.eclipse.org/downloads/packages/release/mars/2/eclipse-ide-java-ee-developers
Software repository: https://tools.hana.ondemand.com/mars/

It's working ok to me.
