12 Months rolling forecast with prev. 4 month actuals - Integrated Planning

Hi,

What is the best practice for setting up a 12 month rolling planning with -4 months of actuals and +12 months of forecast with IP?

Let's think about a very basic setup, Cost Center planning:

- We have 2 infoproviders (for act/plan) and they are combined as a multiprovider and that is used on the aggregation level.

In the planning layout/query:

- On the lines Cost Elements are shown

- On the columns periods and keyfigures are shown.

The requirement is that actuals are shown for 4 previous months and planning is open & visible for the current month +11 months. We do not wish to show any actuals beside the figures for planning NOR old planned values beside the actuals for the previous months.

Versioning works as follows: Zero version is always open for planning and snapshots are loaded into different versions at a given point in time. Actuals are also loaded as version 0.

Value types are as usual: actual = 10, Plan = 20 and we use 0FISCPER for periods.

So the result should be that we'll show 16 periods for each line (cost element) with the 4 first columns as static cells displaying only actuals and the 12 latter as input ready cells open for planning.

Hi,

you basically described 90% of the solution already. You need to have dynamic (exit) variables pointing to the current actuals periods as well as to the input periods. Those should be filled based on some reference date (e.g. current data entry period) which you set somewhere, in a variable, a control table or anything like this.

Then you assign your value types and the period variables to the actuals columns and input columns. The input columns are marked as being ready for input.

Ok...

The problem is that if I use only posted values for the 0FISCPER the input ready cells aren't visible and if I choose to show everything from the master data I get the unwanted actual cells beside the input cells. Suppress zeros doesn't seem to help, I've tried to suppress from query level (columns) and from the keyfigure structure.

I am not sure if I understand you correctly.

Example:

Actuals exist in periods 001.2001 till 01.2009

Planning is open from 02.2009 till 05.2010.

Now you have two variables: Periods_Actuals = 009.2008 to 001.2009

Periods_Plan = 002.2009 to 005.2009

If you restrict your column view with those variables, you should not see any actuals apart from the 4 periods you need.

First of all thanks for your answers! I was a bit unclear, I admit. Such a rush...

Yes, what you described above is what I'm trying to do... How ever when I setup the variables and restrictions like that the result is that only posted actuals are shown for the 4 first months and the input cells are available only for the first month of planning period (002.2009).

If I change the setting for the display of periods as according to masterdata I get to see all of the required periods but the empty actual columns are visible for the future months as well. And if I supprees zeros the input ready cells are removed as well...

A bug?

and how about you designer cube that is include what characterices and key figure

you said

Now I am face the same problem
