Question Re: To compare two different reports in Technology Q&A

Hi Carles

You can compare two reports by verifying the number of records returned. You can also find the performance information from the menu Report->Performance Information, in Crystal Reports.

I doubt there is any tool which can actually compare two reports. I would also be interested if you find any.

Let me know if the information provided to you helps or not.

Regards

Nikhil Sabnis

Hi!

Iu2019ve just started in a new work and I have an important task to do. So, I need to know if there is

some method to compare two reports. Let me explain:

We receive reports from Oracle and from SQL Server: two different reports with the same information. I need to compare them in order to know if the information exactly is the same or not.

Does someone know any tool to do that or do I have to revise each one by hand?

you can export the report to report definition and it listes all the backend info. there is a tool called rpt inspector. its about $400

Thanks Nikhil fot the answer but it isn't the solution because the information we've got in the orcale server is diferent than the information on SQL Server.

We want the same reaport on the diferent server.

May beu2026 Business Object u2013 Crystal Reports can explain us how is a report built and how we can find the u201Cdata sourcesu201D. If it can beu2026 I will be able to make a program to compare the u201Cdata fieldsu201D in two, three, four,u2026 reports.

It will be very useful to compare if two reports have the same u201Cdata fieldsu201D or, two directories have the same number of reports and everyone in the first folder have the consequent in the second folder.

Of course, when I talking about folders, Iu2019m want to say two folders who contains reports but each folder have reports linked to different DBMS (Oracle, SQL Server,u2026).

Edited by: Carles Hernández on Jan 13, 2009 5:03 PM

Edited by: Carles Hernández on Jan 13, 2009 5:05 PM

Other than manually looking at the reports data output only other option is to export to Report Definition and the SQL statements, run them manually to see if they produce the same data.
