disp+work processes makes CPU utilization 100%

Hi,

Since last few days, few disp+work processes consumes 100% of cpu of an

application sever (of BW Production server).

The application server is used for reporting of analytics

from our SRM portal. But it is observed from last 2 days that few

disp+work processes occupy 100% of cpu.

So no supplier is able to see the analytics from SRM portal.

Please note that we updated the patch set of oracle from 9.2.0.6.0 to

9.2.0.8.0 and after that only the problem appeared.

Request you to guide accordingly so that smooth operations can be

restored.

I doubt that this problem was caused by an Oracle upgrade.

Please check in SAP transaction SM66 what these work processes are doing. And perhaps ask the user who started these processes.

At the time of analytics reading time the following programs are read :

SAPLRSDRS

CL_SQL_STATEMENT==============CP

CL_RSR_REQUEST================CP

SAPLRRK0.

But in st04 it is not showing any cost on DB.

The OS of that app server is windows 2000. We have updated the also /3gb parameter in boot.ini.

It is still high CPU Utilizaion.

Do check whether this Oracle upgrade is supporting your current kernel level. If not you need to upgrade your kernel too.

Also, do check it out R3trans & TP command, as this R3trans helps you in havving connection with Database.

Before doing any upgrades, it is always recommended to check PAM (Product Availability Matrix).

Try to check whether there are any Active processes which are causing this to become 100%. Also do check if there is any I/O related pocesses, which are causing this utilization to get at 100%.

Wat OS your using?

Hi,

We are using the windows 2000 server and we have already enabled /3 GB parameter in boot.ini.

Only disp+work is consuming more CPU.

Did you reboot the Server after upgrade. we hade similar problem in AIX, reboot solved it.

There is also a LISTENER bug in 9.2.0.8

Again How long the DB is up.

We have already restarted the servers.

Will u please tell what is the bug in oracle listner as you said and how u fixed?

It is a Oracle's bug (5576565). Memory leak affects the performance, We are running on AIX, we have a job to stop and start the Listener alone once a week. Oracle & SAP will be up and running while this job runs. This happens when lot of connection is requested. I do not know about your application request to listener.

Bug is fixed only in 10.2 or something , I am not sure exact release.

Hi , Microsoft and SAP recommend that you upgrade to Windows Server 2003 ...

Note 530871 - Hanging work processes in Windows 2000

Note 441663 - USING > 3 GB of memory for Oracle on WINDOWS platforms

Hi,

After going through your problem I have come to a conclusion that you should not waste your time by investigating SAP profile and DB parameters.

I think there is definitely problem with the backend BW query, please check the authorization attached with the query.

please revert the /3GB parameter and check again with above condition.
