I'm just doing a openSAP-course ("Writing Testable Code for ABAP") and was wondering about the colorful syntax

My Eclipse looks rather plain boring by comparison:

Where do you set this in Eclipse?

It’s in the language specific syntax colouring options, not sure it it was under general or project specific settings (no system in front of me). Window > settings

Project > settings

There are threee places in eclipse to configure look and feel, which is why I gave up on customising mine beyond the defaults, but I do usually switch these on.

I've found it in:

Windows - Preferences - ABAP Development - Editors - Source Code Editor - ABAP Keyword Colors

However it's by far not complete, so the ADD button will be in use for a while… 🙂

You might need some skins or themes, install from Eclipse market. They contain quite a lot color scheme for code. I personally recommend you to try the DarkTheme, much easier for the eyes.

Or you can customize yourself in the Preferences of Eclipse. Sorry I don't remember the exact location but Eclipse has a good search option
