hi all,

i want to use mail adapter on Sender side can any body tell me whether i can use my outlook server address as IMAP4 server address in my communication channel ?

hi amit,

you need to check whether you mail exchange server is IMAP or POP3.

You can use the mail adapter to configure both IMAP and POP3. Check with the mail server and then you will be able to use right protocol

Outlook is not IMAP..

Outlook is just a mail client which helps you in sending and receiving mails. However it supports both IMAP and POP3.

Examples of IMAP servers are

Microsoft Exchange Sever

and there are many

Examples of POP3 servers are

Yahoo

Gmail

If you need examples of mail clients

MS outlook

Outlook express

Thunder bird

there are more

one more doubt

we configure outlook account of our organisation as microsoft exchange server type so can we put that address in communication channel as IMAP4 server address? and how to get GMAIL/yahoo server addresses?

Yes, you can do that for example imap://<ur server address>/

for gmail

pop://pop.gmail.com

for yahoo

incoming Mail (POP3) Server

pop.mail.yahoo.com (Use SSL, port: 995)

Outgoing Mail (SMTP) Server

smtp.mail.yahoo.com (Use SSL, port: 465)
