TLB ignoring Loading Group

Folks,

I am running TLB for products which have different loading group ( Loading group is maintained in Location Product under GR/GI Tab). I am using Straight Loading for TLB run. My understanding of TLB and loading group in straight loading imethod is system will not club products with different loading group into one TLB order.However after TLB run i see that system has created TLB orders which has multiple products ( i.e different loading group products are clubbed in one TLB order).

For example let us assume that we have products A, B and C. Product A has loading Group 1, B has loading group 2 and C has loading Group 3. After TLB run , i see product A and B in one TLB order, which should not be the case i feel.

Is my understanding of TLB and loading group correct? Any inputs on the above issue will be highly appreciated.

Hi,

As per my understanding, TLB will prioratise the products based on the loading group. We are using it in this manner for low demand products to give priority. In your case Product A has loading Group 1, B has loading group 2 then it first gives priority to Product A then if there is space available in truck then loads B then C. It is not like only Product A should build in one truck.

thanks for the reply. I have few questions on your reply.

1) How is system going to give priority to Loading Groups? I do not think there is any setting available which tells the product to give priority to loading group? Alternatively is it possible that sytem may give priority to loading group based on alphabetical order.

2) if even straight loading is going to club products, then i think there is no difference between straight loading and load balancing.

Many a times there is a business requirement that few material ( esp hazardous material) should not be transported with other materials. Then in those cases how TLB handles those materials.

Hi,

Ans: Iam not sure about alphabetical but if you are using the numerical then it follow as said before. First it load for 0000 then 0001 etc.. If Truck has allowed space then it try to load from the other loading group. In our senario we are using it and system is working as i said.

Ans: In load balancing it will not check Loding group but in strait loading it checks loding group. I

Ans: You can achieve this requirement by maintaining differe nt MOT's (without all product flag) and maintain TLB profile differently for the hazardous material and maintain product specific MOT for those materials.

I am clear with the your reply for question 1.

What i meant in question 2 is if even straight loading is going to mix products then where exactly is the difference between straight loading and load balancing. As you said load balancing will not consider loading group, then if i see the end results ( i.e after TLB run) with both these methods, results will be same i.e mix of products. Then in this case i am not able to appreciate as to why to there is a need of another loading method.

regarding point no 3, i tried to do what u said. I added 2 more means of transport along with different TLB profile. Then i maintained product specific MOT for the 3 materials. i,.e each material had a specific MOT.Even after this TLB run is clubbing products. Pls note that in product specific transportation lane ( i.e Top most section in T-LANE) also these 3 products appear. In case i try to maintain " ALL PRODUCTS" here, i am not able to maintain product specific MOT.

My simple requirement is TLB should not mix products when it proposes TLB orders. If possible, can you pls share any inputs ?

Hi,

You can find the different results by taking runs with defferent demands.

For the next question, If you maintain different MOTs and assign these in the product specific say product a with 0001 product specific MOT and B with 0002, then tlb profile for 0001 MOT is xxxx and for 0002 MOT zzzz, it will not club in the same truck.

For the above requirement even you can achieve by maintaining SNP global settings TLB: Pallet Loading as SAME PRODUCT.

But it is a global setting so it will not mix product for any of the material.

I did exactly the way you said. I have 3 TLB Profiles, Lets say XXX, YYY and ZZZ. I have 3 specific MOT, lets say 0001, 0002 and 0003. I have 3 different Materials lets say A, B and C. Now below is the assignment

Product MOT TLB Profile

A 0001 XXX

B 0002 YYY

C 0003 ZZZ.

Also SNP global settings TLB: Pallet Loading as SAME PRODUCT is already set.

Pls do note that all the 3 TLB profiles have the same parameters ( i.e Volumne) and the parameter limits ( i.e Volume Quantity).

Kishore, if its possible, can you pls share your phone number so that i can call you and tell you more about my observations.

Hi Kishore,

By Maintaining different MOTs and assigning these in the product specific MOT, system is creating TLB Orders for individual products and hence different products are not getting clubbed. Atleast we have found an alternative way to meet our requriement. Thanks for your inputs.

Yesterday i checked the indicator " Valid for all products" in the means of transport and hence system was clubbing all products in any one of the MOT. By unchecking that indicator today, i am able to achieve the desired results.

Hi Kishore,

Somehow i missed that point yesterday ( i.e without all product flag). Instead i was ensuring that i do not select " ALL PRODUCTS" in the product specific Transportation Lane and not in the MOT. It was my mistake.

Thought i am able to meet my client requirements, but this process ( different MOT and then product specific MOT) will be very complex. If we have 500 products, then we will have to create 500 different MOT and then assign each of the product to each of the MOT. This is just to ensure that each product is transported separately. Also going forward maintaining master data will be a challenge with this approach.

I was expecting that loading group will solve our requirements but unfortunately that is not working. Do you have any other suggesstions for our requirements, apart from this MOT and then product specific MOT.
