Hi Philip.

NW 7.4 already the end of support from SAP. You can try to upgrade the NW 7.4 to 7.5, refer the SAP Note 1648480

Regards

SS

Hi guys,

Just to ask, so we need to patch the component J2EE-APPS of our Java systems:
740 SPS17 Patch level
 0

TO
740 SPS17 Patch level
 13

We only need to update the patch, do we need to patch first from 1-12 or can we directly patch to 13 from 0?

Please advise. Thank you.

Hi Philip,

This process is automated now, you can calculate the stack and download the required files using Maintenance Planner, and SUM will take care of the patching.

To answer your question, Java patches are cumulative

Regards, JP

Thanks for clarification. We only need the patch due to security vulnerability for Java based systems released today.

Hi Philip,

For ABAP system, you have to apply the all of the patches up to target version.
But for Java system, you can directly apply the only patch of target version.
Because when you apply the patches in Java system , the modules of Java system are only replaced with new one.

But SAP recommends applying SPs (not SP).I also recommend to use Maintenance Planner.

Best Regards,
Akihiro

Hi, thanks for your response. We need a quick fix with less impact because there is a CVS 10.0 today released by SAP so the best option I think would be the patch instead of SP upgrade. What do you think?

Hi Philip,

If there is not any workarounds for the vulnerability , you can apply the only patch.
But I think "J2EE-APPS" is the core component of Java system.
So I recommend to do test after applying the patch on QAS.
