Transport Receipt and Customer Receipt behaving differently

Hello,

I am working in IBP 4.0 FP1 patch and I have following observations with respect to different behaviour of customer receipt and transport Receipt key figures. I have created a copy of SAP4 planning area and working on that and Month is the lowest bucket in my time profile. I am using planning engine as Heuristics

Scenario - Lead time for a product between Customer and Location (DC) is 2 months, defined in customer source MDT

Lead time for a product between Location (DC) and Location (Plant) is 2 months, defined in Location source MDT

If I have a demand at customer in month of August 2015, so obviously because of lead time of 2 months I cannot satisfy it so system doesn't create at customer receipt in the month of august 2015 (For all demands starting September 2015, I gets customer receipts). So this behaviour is correct and as expected.

Now at Location (DC) I have net demand in month of August 2015 and here also lead time is 2 months but system creates transport receipts which is not feasible due to lead time so this behaviour is not correct and different that customer receipt behaviour.

Have you observed this and is this standard behaviour that transport receipts can be created irrespective of lead time and customer receipt can be created only if lead time allows it to be created so demand at DC doesn't go in past.

Please suggest.

Hi Girish,

The reason for transport receipt in Aug'15 at DC could be due to presence of In-transit quantities in Jul'15.

This is the quantity which is is on the way to DC from plant. This can include the one which started in July itself and the one which had started in June(from your earlier supply run).

Now you need to find out how much of this In- transit quantity will reach in Aug(which started in June since lead time is 2 month) and how much will reach in Sep(which started in July).

Since your concern is about those quantities which are reaching in August, it can be found by subtracting your transport Supply from In- transit supply in Jul'15 bucket. This difference is in mid of transport and will reach in Aug'15 and will be visible in transport receipt quantity.

Further if you enter any Minimum transport receipt in Aug'15, it will be taken as additional requirement and will get added to Total transport receipt.

Were you able to resolve this issue. We are facing the same issue where Transport Receipts are getting created which are not feasible as the start date for them will be in past due to the long lead time.

Request you to please share what was the solution shared.

We were able to resolve the issue by checking the checkbox "Initialize Lead Time Horizon of Transports" in the Heuristics Planning Operator. This checkbox ensures that the planning algorithm initializes the values in the key figures Transport Supply/Receipts within the lead time horizon of the sources of supply prior to each planning run.
