And I am also looking for some sample questions and sample exam format.

Could you please share any info you have and also your experience at the exam as what types of questions are expected and how was the difficulty level. I know the spread of the questions (datamodeling +++, Reporting +++ etc)

Thanks

John

Hi John !

take a look in the SAP Service Marketplace to check which courses are a prerequisite and the current list of topics that are covered.

http://service.sap.com/certification

...here you can find also a nice test simulator in order to train your-self.

The questions are confidential and can not be shared (SAP says), but a few time ago I posted some sample questions that you can find in this forum if yo search with the key word 'certification' (in Aug 31)...these questions are a little outdated, but you can consider them a good starting point.

Good luck for your next exam (and don't forget to le tet me know if you'll officially become a 'BW Guru' !!!

Bye,

Roberto

HI John,

R u done with the certification or still a few days away from it? If u r already certified, accept my congratulations. Even when i was giving the certification, i was kinda worried and asked few of my friends to share thier experiences abt the certification. So one of my friend's friend shared his exp with me .. it really proved helpful to me. Thought might be u could like to take a look at it.

<b>Certification Experience</b>

The exam contains 80 questions and the time allotted for this 3hours. Time duration is more than enough for 80 questions. The only thing u should have is Patience because u really get tired after reading all this questions and the respective 5 options for each question and that too confusing ones. I really got impatient when I was nearing 64,65th question. And I think this is the reason I did very badly in my last section (Data Modeling). Data Modeling was one of the topics, which I was fully confident of scoring well but to my surprise I got the lowest marks. I finished my exam in 2:10hours. I would say that u use all the time allotted to you and go through all the questions again.

I got 73% (I know it is not a good score but at the end of the day I am happy that I got it.)

The exam is divided in to 6 sections. The first section is Extraction and in this section u have 16 questions. Majority of the questions are based on Delta, I would say like 85% of this section is on delta. The questions I remember are: what is the architecture of delta? What is the concept behind Early Delta initialization? What was the problem with LIS? Data connect is related to…………?. The most surprising part was that they didn’t ask me any questions on FI/CO, COPA AND FI-SL. So make sure that u have read everything in connection to Delta. Read help.sap. I personally felt that help.sap is a big advantage from concepts and certification point of view. Read each and everything in detail from help.sap.com.

The Second section is based on Reporting and this section contains the maximum number of question compared to other sections. The total numbers of questions in this section are 26. It test your knowledge completely on BEx tool. The note in BW CLASS INPUT FOR REORTING is really excellent. Make sure that you also go through REPORTING MADE EASY GUIDE. You don’t have to go through all 500 pages. Just read chapters 3,4,6,7 and 8. It just takes 2 days to read these chapters in detail. When u read these guide try to work on the system as much as possible and build as many queries as possible. This will help u in remembering the concepts. Working on the system is really necessary because there are so many things which u can realize only when u build query. This will help u a lot when answering the question on reporting.

REPORTING MADE EASY GUIDE is based on BW 2.0B. But chapters 3, 4, 6, and 7 does not have as many changes compare to BW 3.0B. You will have to read some extra documents for chapter 8 (Reporting Agent) because it only covers Exceptions and Printing. You have to read some papers on CRYSTAL REPORTING, WEB TEMPLATE AND BOOKMARKS. Also I followed all the point in BW CLASS INPUT for WAD and started working on the system.

The 3rd section is WARE HOUSE MANAGEMENT. This section contains 20 question. I was asked some questions on Document Integration and XML files.

The 4th section is Project. There are only 4 questions in this section and I think that u should not miss a single scoring opportunity this section. The questions in these sections were like what steps are taken after a Blueprint? What all u do in analysis? How important the end users are while defining a data model.

The 5th section is Authorization. There are only 4 questions in this section and even in this section u should not miss a single scoring opportunity this section.

The last section is Data Modeling. It contains 10 questions. Make sure that your concepts are clear for attributes, hierarchy and aggregates. I remember one question: what is the difference between star schema and classic schema model.

Question on hierarchy were really confusing.

This was my experience giving the exam. At the end of the exam even I was not sure whether I will make it or lose it.

Hello all,

I recently finished my 3.0B certification and here is my take on it.

I started my preparation 4 weeks before the exam and read SAP courses 305, 310, 315, 330, 340, 350 and 365 and nothing else. I strongly suggest not to read Catherine Rose book and read only SAP material. These courses are sufficient to clear the exam. The only other stuff that you need to read other than this is on ASAP methodology. Again, you only get 4 questions on this, out of these you can answer 2 without reading this material. So, if you don't have time, you can skip this completly. Follow this link for a neat presentation on ASAP. http://www.soi.city.ac.uk/~pauline/?cont=4

You can expect a question from any corner of this material. For example, I got 3 easy questions on what is contained in "Metadata repository". "Data modeling" and "Reporting" carry maximum share of the marks. In reporting, concentrate on the types of variables, calculated keyfigures, restricted key figures, restriction options you have in creating conditions and exceptions. Here is some of the Info that I remembered from the exam

1. What are the contents of Metadata repository?

2. What objects you see in Metadata repository? Only

business content or all active objects?

3. 4 questions on Authorizations. Read the specified

 topics in 365.

4. 4 questions on ASAP methodology. read the above

specified material and you should be good.

5. 24 questions in BEx. Cell Editor, AdHoc query

designer, currency conversion, structures etc. Some of

them are very straight forward....some might be

tricky. Read 305 and you should be good there. I guess

 this is the easiest part.

6. Around 20 questions in Extractions. delta queues,

initialization, testing in RSA3, activities that you

can do from LBWE etc....They did not ask anything in

LIS extraction although it is included in the

syllabus. There were a few questions in CO-PA, like

 what is safety delta etc...

7. A Few questions in data modeling, and about 15-20

 questions in InfoObjects-InfoCubes.

8. Can you build a multiProvider on an ODS and

infoObject? Or, should there be atleast one InfoCube?

9. Can you build InfoSet on one or more Infosets? things

 like that...

You will have 3 hours to finish the exam, which I think is much more than enough. I finished mine in 1:30 minutes. This is a real easy exam once you read all the courses specified above.

Good luck

John

PS:For practice, you might just want to refer to the questions from Catherine Rose book. but, don't remember answers from it or don't read the material. some of the answers were wrong.

Message was edited by: Gova Mabbu

At this point people may want to consider taking only the BW 3.5 certification. There is also a BW 3.5 delta for people who are BW 3.0 certified.

You need to attend the the classes (BW310, BW365 etc.)for the material. The training material in a soft copy form is not avaialable in the public domain for purchase or otherwise. Stuff like Reporting Made Easy Guide is available for purchase.
