Hi all, I have 4.8 years of experience in IT services out of which 2.2years is in sap security in which I have worked on mass user maintenance, emergency access management technical account maintenance etc. I wanted to do iso certification in SAP security and grc but I see and I heard that there are less openings in these fields so please clear my confusion that I should do this certification or any other module certification

working in security and GRC myself, I completely disagree with there being less openings. If anything, landscapes are becoming more complex (integrating cloud and on-premise) and compliance requirements are increasing (e.g. GDPR). It's now meaning the security investment is needed more than ever. You can't ignore security and expect your solution to work.

However, the feedback and commentary that you have received may be in relation to your job market and saturation of skills.

That's great that you have experience with security - more in authorisations/access controls.

What you could do is start learning authentication; system security (hardening RFCs connections which links into authorisations); cloud security aspects and looking to the Identity Provisioning Service; Identity Authentication Service; and the Identity Access Governance Service;.

SAP Access Controls 12.0 has just been made generally available so there's some differences with 10.1 version that you could be reading up on

Certification is worth doing if your job market or employer requires you to hold it. I'm currently studying for security and it's making me realise how much I don't actually know.

The reality is competing in the job market is hard but the more you continue to learn and evolve your skills, the better your chances are of security a good work opportunity for the longer term.

Good luck

Regards

Colleen

Hello Colleen, thank you for your answer. I will try to learn about Authorizations. In security I have just worked on user management. also I forgot to mention that I work in India as commented about job opportunities with respect to Indian Job market. But surely I will try to learn and find opportunities. Thank you so much. 🙂
