Question Re: Issue with package data synchronization in Financial Management Q&A

Hi,

Thanks for those additional details.

Indeed, to see amounts that are entered by another user, you need to query the database. When you are on read-only mode, you do not send the needed request to the database at the moment you navigate between reports.

When your user has write access, he will see the other data when saving his own reports. The "save" creates queries to the database and loads refresh data in the package.

Best regards

Issue with package data synchronization

Hello,

Although the multi-user mode is active in General Options/Reporting, it seems functionality is not working as described by SAP in BOFC 10.1 user's guide ( chapter 5.2.22.3 Data synchronization in a package in multi-user mode):

I've tested it this way:

2 users logged into the same package;

user A changed an amount manually in one schedule and saved the package;

user B doesn't see the change until he/she closes the package and enters again.

I understand that user B shouldn't be forced to close and re-open the package to see user A modification.

Can someone help me to clarify this topic?

Thank you.

Kind regards

Hi,

In order to better understand the context of your question, can you please confirm the exact version and Service Pack you are running and if your users are connected through the windows or the web client ?
Did you try to only refresh the report by closing it or doing F5 ?

Regards

Hi Adelaide,

We are working with BOFC 10.1 / SP8 and users are connected to web client HTML5.

We tested 2 situations:

1) User A (write mode) and user B (read-only mode) are inside the same schedule

User A changes an amount and user B cannot see the change after he also saves the package nor closes the schedule and opens it again. User B is able to see the modification only after closing the package and entering it again.

2) User A (write mode) and user B (read-only mode) are inside the same package but in different schedules

User A changes an amount in schedule X and user B cannot see the change when he opens schedule X.

User B is able to see the modification only after closing the package and entering it again.
Thank you.Kind regards

Hi,

Sorry for the previous wrong information.

Both users (A and B) were in write mode, otherwise, user B wouldn't be able to save the package.

I've tested it again and I confirm that both users were in write-mode.

Thank you

Kind regards

Hello,

SAP clarified the scenario in which the synchronization doesn't occur (see the message below).
We've tested it again and we confirmed it. I'll recommend our users to put "0" instead of erasing amounts as a workaround solution.Kind regards
