Unable to edit new custom field added in Purchase requisition Item Overview - ME51N/ME52N

Using SMOD exit "MEREQ001"; I have added new custom field "Long text" in the table EBAN ( Include CI_EBANDB).

It appears fine in the "Item Overview" section of Purchase requisition screens.

However, this field is not editable. Is it possible I update this field directly from Item Overview section and it gets updated in database table EBAN?

I have already achieved this the other way, by editing new "long text" of "Customer Data" Tab , implementing PBO PAI of new "Customer Data" Tab as shown below.

But I want user to be able to directly edit the "long text" in item overview section. If that happens, I will remove the "Customer Data" tab.

Please guide me how to make this new field editable.

Hello Barkha,

You need to contact with your abaper regarding this, because while extending this field developer may also write the code about the transaction and if not, then through abap he can make this field editable in ME52N.

Oops! I am the ABAPer!

I tried to explore options on this, but found no way to make that field editable.

Using SPRO, I don't see my custom field listed - in order to make any changes in display/edit mode etc.

Using this user exit, it only allows to control the "Customer Data" tab.

Do you have any starting points?

In standard you can check it through configuration of screen layout -

SPRO - IMG- Materials Management - Purchasing - Purchase Order - Define screen layout for purchase order.

You must have created Screen 111 for this exit, you can try writing LOOP AT SCREEN.

Hello Barkha,

Yes you are right you cannot get the field which developed by your own enhancement here, but you can write the same code in the BADI"ME_PROCESS_PO_CUST" and make this field editable!
