Activate a new depreciation area - how to handle historical data

After we migrated to S4, we came to realize that posting to each depreciation area on the asset is driven by accounting principle config in OADB. Our AUCs were set up to have only depreciation area 01 (ledger 1) while final asset is set up to have both depreciation area 01 (ledger 1) and depreciation area 02 (ledger 2). So when we settle from the AUC to the final asset, we would be missing the area 02 posting. With that being said, we decide to activate depreciation area 02 on our AUCs. But that would only work for going forward basis. How do we handle historical data?
