tcode micn issue

Hi,

I am trying to run the micn tcode against particular material ( grp 111 and ABC indicator A and CC fixed).

On MMBE, I see the material is currently located in two storage locations but on micn, it doesn't show those locations while creatiIng session. I am attaching the screenshots for the same.

MICN- It doesn't show SAA3 and SKK2 locations in the above tcode. so how will user enter the current stock?

Am I missing any settings?

at least you missed to mention a lot parameters like:

when was the last inventory taken for these materials?

How often is CC indicator A to be counted in a year?

what is your fiscal year (Jan to Dec or different?)

What from and to date had you entered as inventory date?

How often is CC indicator A to be counted in a year? 12 times a year

what is your fiscal year (Jan to Dec or different?) jan-dec

What from and to date had you entered as inventory date? 03/11/2013 to 03/11/2013

how often do you count in a month?

if you count only once in a month, then you should enter 03/11/2013 to 04/11/2013

if you do it daily, then your entry is okay. but then you must not wonder that your material is not among them as it might not be due on that day.

if you use the larger period, then you can see at which date your material is due to be counted.

yes. and even if I try that ( entering larger period 3/11 till 4/12 for instance), it shows below, which still missing SAA3. Shouldn't it also look at the current and historical inventory locations in the system to propose the locations for cycle counting?

extend it even more, maybe to the end of the year, and see if you find your missing material.

Extended it but it still doesn't show missing location ( SAA3) which has good stock of 49. I checked the batch job variant for exclusion Slocs and SAA3 is NOT excluded.

Any other reasons you could think of?

for SAA3 location, its 02/08/2013 for this material. If it was counted at least once historically, shouldn't it propose now?

Just found something..if I run micn with just location saa3 and Quality insp. or blocked check box checked it does show the location for 3/11/2013. what does that mean?

Maybe it is still contained in an other physical inventory document which is not yet counted.

I looked into this more and looks like it is the way how standard functionality works (MICN).

Currently, the setting is - No. of physical inv = 12, interval = 21 , float time = 3 and percentage 70.

So in above example, say Ex. material xyz is originally stored at 5 locations and we started counting them every after 21 workdays. and then we added 1 more new location, it has its own cycle date. So location sloc 1-5 will be counted on 3/1/2013 and that one new location could start its counting on 3/2/2013 and then it continues this way. This doesnt seem to be the efficient way of counting.

My question is, is there any way to correct this problem? I would like to have this material to be counted on the same day for ALL the locations regardless of "last count day" to sync up the process.( looks like currently MICN looks at last count date in MARD?).

Is there any way to avoid/correct this issue?

This is how the design is, there is no given standard option to change this.

usually the problem is the other way around, when you start with a new system, then any material master has the same creation date, and stock has the same creation date, so all items are proposed for counts on the same date.

And I saw a note from SAP that you need to modify the last count date with an ABAP if you want it differently.

Looks like that is the option..Or I can run the micn job for the longer period to synch up?

Ex. for above example..I would run it for 21 business days since A is configured for 21 days. That way all the locations will show up first time and once the physical posting is done, next time MICN will start over with the "last count date" which is same for all the locations?

your idea might work for the few A items, but whats your plan for the C or D items which may be counted only once a year?

And you do not have the cycle count indicator as selection criteria in MICN, so you always have A, B, C and D items in one count.

Don't start modifying the SAP design before you really have made some experience.

Good point!

B is 63 days ( 4 times a year) and C is 252 (once a year). In the beginning of the year( first of a year), we also run the level load (custom) program to even out the cycle load so above approach might mess up that process.

I think, if I run only A materials first ( using range on micn) manually then it might work, but of course has to analyze a lot before actually doing it .
