PR/PO Material Short text.

Hi all ,

I have kept Material Description field as Display Mode using Screen layout option under SPRO.

The issue is while creating PR/PO , After material code , system is allowing me to put any description ( short text) , Now i am entering qty & plant and ENTER . system not changing material description...

How we can get the actual material description from material master even though user enter the description..

Hi Shiva,

U need to maintain the Short Text for the material in the Basic data view or the Purchasing View of Material master. Only then will the short text automatically popluate once you hit enter after entering the material code in PO.

Hi,

In SPRO -> screen lay out for PO

you need to do this for field selection ME21N and also for NBF ( or what ever you assigned to the document type)

basic data item -> short text -> display

then check in PO ( if you want in me22 the also in ME22)

it will solve your problem

Hi , thanks for your reply.

But thing is When creating purchase order , all the fields are enable in nature (line item ) , now i am entering material code & DESCRIPTION ( Manually) & fill rest the required fields then pressing the ENTER , System takes my Manually entered description.

What i want is material master description should overwrite this field

Hi,

in SPRO -> define screen layout for PO -> field selection ME21N

here make the short text field as display.

and also for field selection that you assigned to your PO document type.

make this two change

Now when run transaction ME21N naturally short text field will appear as blur ( i.e no input ,grayed out )

in the initial screen and also stay like that through out.

I think you can control that in copy control of PO texts.

OLME > purchase order > Texts for Purchase Orders > Define Copying Rules for Item Texts

you will usually see a 01 item text, select it and click the folder for text linkages

if you remove the source PO - item text, then the text will usually be taken from the other remaining source only, and never from a manul entry in the PO.

As per your mail , I tried with * and N indicator , still system keeping manually entered text in purchase order.. whether BADI can fulfil the purpose. ( for PR & PO )

System prposes Short text automatically , when you enter material while creation of PO . But if the user giving different short text system doesn't check for the same.

Please go for an enhancement while creation of PO to check this manual intervension.

Else you can always keep that field in display mode.

SPRO ->MM~~> Purchasing~~>Po--> screen lay out for PO

Change field selection for NBF .

Goto basic data item -> short text -> display .
