ME51N: Short text field to be made display field only for material PRs

Hi,

In ME51N we want to make short text field as display field only for those PRs which have material code.

On the other hand, we want to have short text field as editable in case of Service PRs and Asset PRs.

Document type for all the PRs is same.

How this can be achieved?

Maintain separate document for service PRs, for other PRs make the "short text field " as dispaly field at spro > mm > purchasing > purchase requistion > define screen layout for document type

short text field is available at "Basic data, item" section.

hi,

You should create a new document type via copying the exsiting one...

Make screen layout changes to this new document type, in which you make the short text as DISPLAY only under basic data ....

By this whether you do or don't maintain the material code, this field will be in display mode only....

While for the other PR's you can use the exisiting std. document types provided by the sap...

Advantage: You don't need to maintain n no. of document types....secondly, as you need that in service / asset PR you need it editable.. and which you'll not see into it, you will automatically go for std. document types...

and in the field selection for document type make short text field as optional entry.

for the standard document type, make the short text field as display in the field selection for document type

Hi all,

I have a similar requirement, but I want to make as display only the GL account field under account assingment tab, but only for account assingment A "Assets"

Is this the only available solution for achieving this? means creating a different document type?
