Product zipcode solr query performance

Hi,

We have a requirement where we have to filter products associated with a zipcode.

We have around 100 products associated to around 2000 zip codes. In total there are around 2 lakh records having product to zipcode relation.

We have indexed the zip code attribute in solr with product indexed type.

However, while fetching the product search results it is taking around 20 seconds. If we do not index zipcode the product search results come in under 500 ms

Please suggest how to improve solr query search performance with zipcode indexed.

Are you sure that it takes 20 seconds to retrieve data from Solr and is not just the task that will be done after they were retrieved?

Further, did you filter the zipcodes via code? If yes I would assume that iterating over a huge list of Products would cause such a delay.

Could you analyze the query that is sent to Solr and try to send it to Solr manually and check if it still needs 20 secs?

Abhinav, I assume you are indexing all applicable zipcodes of the product to solr in document. What solr attribute type (multivalue, string, text) are you using to store this zipcode data?
