setting site level languages

We have separated out country specific sites, which all connect to the same content catalog, base store, and product catalog, and would like to link the default language for each site to its CMSSite. It seems like this should be relatively easy as there is a "default language" attribute on the site. However changing that doesn't seem to do anything. I can effect the language by changing the languages in the basestore however if english is ever one of the languages attached to the base store it default to that instead of respecting whats set as the default language attribute of the baseStore or of the site. I also noticed that there is a languages collection attached to the content catalogs however this is not editable and when I attempted to make it editable I ran into some other errors that made it seem like this was a bad idea.

we can change the session language in code with an interceptor, but it seemed unnecessarily complicated since there is obviously some hybris code setting the language in the first place. If this is the correct way to go about it could somebody point me to the relevant interceptor, filter, or controller that I should look at editing/overwriting?

Thank
Ryan

This turned out to be the wrong way to go about the whole thing, The languages are dictated by the locale of the users browser which allows a much more flexible user experience, I will be adding language dropdown which will use the code already in the StoreSessionController to switch the sites language for the duration of the users session

I don't like when the website opens in the browser language. It's bad for countries with multiple official languages where most of the people speak different languages. And it's annoying for those who speak different languages. It takes the language control away from the server.
