BDC for a view

Hi folks,

I am trying to make some changes in a view . My requirement is, i have to upload data from a excel file and need to do update the view. in the flat file, i am provided with country,rate, date and some other details. suppose if i have a country US in my file, i need to search that counrty name in the table entry and need to update the rate field for that record. Is this possible through BDC. If so, could any body suggest me the logic to proceed.Or any sample program for the requirement.

Hi Shyam,

Are you trying to maintain the currency conversion and trying to write a BDC for the transaction OB08 transaction if that is the case then check the table TCURR for the primary combination, if the entry is present for that then it will update the entry otherwise it will create a new entry.

Hi Shyam,

As it is a view you don't need to write any BDC and you can straight write either the update or insert command on that table.

There is no standard transaction associated with that table or with the maintainance view. I have checked that part just now.

You are correct. But the thing is users need to upload data from a flat file. In that case how can we write just a update statement. Here the problem is, we need to check the internal table record to the value in the view. then only we have to update the remaing fileds. Is this possible??

Hi,

You are getting the data in a file and you have to write a program to read the data from file into an inernal table first and then whether the record in the database table or not for that entry, if it is present then use update command or use insert command on the database table.

Don't forget to use mutually exclusive lock the database table while you are updating the tables.
