Problem while populating the data in FB50

Hi,

I am facing problem while posting G/L account in FB50. At the item level there is a field 'Profit segment'. My requirement is to populate value into this (where I have the problem). After populating the othere fields data at the item level, there is a warning message because of which the BDC okcodes disappear. Hence the OKCODE for Profit segment extension button is never triggered.

Please help me on how to handle this. If it is not possible, suggest if an alternate BAPI exists.
