Transaction SCAT

This is an amazing tool in R/3. Like everyone else has stated i is not for the masses.

The tool can be used to record one or more tcodes to allow fo mass updates, or creation of data within the system. Once i has been mastered the tool can also be used for testin processes by recording multiple transactions and uploading dat via a txt file. This tool is very fast and can save many hours days, weeks, and reduce the amount of resources required fo making mass changes in the system.

Example: If you had to create 1000 users manually it would tak about week, maybe two to enter in each one by a single person. CATT can create 1000 users in under 30 minutes.

Example: If you had to update IT0001 for 100000 records manuall that would require about 8 people working 8 hours days for week or two, to complete the task. CATT can make the change over the course of a few hours.

SAP has replaced SCAT with a new version of the CATT tool usin t-Code SECATT (enterprise and above).

SECATT is a little more complex, and requires a little mor playing around before mastering it.

You should only run CATT during times when the system does no have a lot of traffic, or lots of jobs consuming the wor processes. It is best to run CATT in the backgroud, make sur that you pass errors, and produce a display log. If you hav any errors, by passing them will not hold up the rest of th script from processing, and the log display will allow you g back and review what errored out and what passed successfully.

If you make mass updates to Master data Records, document, POs etc. I would also recommend setting a login ID that reflect the name of the CATT Script. Unless you like getting tons o e-mails, calls, and drivebys, asking why did you change the record nicely

Hii!

SCATT maintains a log for all the updations which have been done which can used to analyse the desired results for that transaction with a set of data.

People use SCATT to update tables but it is not meant for this purpose.
