I have to upload a really big text file from the client PC. GUI_UPLOAD function cancells because out of memory. Since I have to process line by line I really don't need the entire file on memory at same time so I thought about a method of reading the first line of file, process them, discard them and read the next one and so on until end of file. This process should work for me.

I thought OPEN and READ DATASET should work but I realised that instructions are for files on SAP server, not from PC.

Does anybody know how to work like this with a file at client machine?

Thanks!

one more option is place the file in FTP server connect to that server using FTP connect you can find some FM to do this.. you need to have a RFC connection to be defined to that Server... call the file thru FTP thru ur program and upload data to your internal table...
