transaction with variant

Hi,

I need to call some standard transaction ( which are nothing but report, assigned a T code) with defaulting an existed variant.

how can i acheive this.

Sudheer,

You can create a Standard Transaction Variant for any standard transaction using transaction SHD0. Once you have created a standard variant and activated it, the next time you call the standard transaction it would be always called with the variant you created.

Hi sudheer, you have a table TVAR* which hold all the variant names for a given object.. check that.. you might find a solution...

You said its a report program so.. why dont you use SUBMIT statement and use the selection-screen.

Hi,

Give a diff. transaction code in SE93 in create mode.

In the Default value for Transaction, put 'START_REPORT' and

check skip initial screen field.

At the bottom of screen in the default values section

Put 'D_SREPOVARI-REPORT' in the name of screen field and assign your 'report name' in the value.

In next row, put 'D_SREPOVARI-VARIANT' in the name of screen field and assign your 'variant name' in the value.

and hit 'SAVE' button.

You can use transaction code with the given variant for the program now.

Hi Sudhir,

You have mentioned you want to call a standard transaction with specific variant based on a condition: What is the condition for which you want to call the transaction and where is it being called from? If it is a custom developed program then best way to do this create variant transactions for different transaction variants and then call the relevant transaction based upon conditions.
