i am new to abap,,,

plzz guide me in my doubt regarding alv,,,,,,,,,,

wht is alv,,y is it used,,,and where is it usefull

,,in real time scenarios how should it be used?

Hello Rao

ALV = ABAP List Viewer

ALV = LVC (= List View Control)

Both describe the Excel-like display of list data in SAP.

Advantage over classical WRITE list:

- all kinds of interactivity (sorting, filtering, sums, totals, layout changes) are integrated into ALV and do not require any programming

You will hardly find any reason why you should not use ALV lists.

If you want to play around with ALV lists you may use fm REUSE_ALV_GRID_DISPLAY_LVC.

Hi,

You would find a lot of material on the forums regarding ALV.

Sap provides a set of ALV (ABAP LIST VIEWER) function modules, which can be put into use to embellish the output of a report. This set of ALV functions is used to enhance the readability and functionality of any report output. Cases arise in sap when the output of a report contains columns extending more than 255 characters in length. In such cases, this set of ALV functions can help choose selected columns and arrange the different columns from a report output and also save different variants for report display. This is a very efficient tool for dynamically sorting and arranging the columns from a report output. The report output can contain up to 90 columns in the display with the wide array of display options.

The commonly used ALV functions used for this purpose are;

1. REUSE_ALV_VARIANT_DEFAULT_GET

3. REUSE_ALV_VARIANT_EXISTENCE

Hi rao,

Other than Grid and List display function modules u r having one more function module heirarchial display...

The function module name is Reuse_Hierarchial_list_display.

Better u go to SE37 and type the function module name and read the documentation. u can understand easily...

Go to SE80 and give the package as SLIS and you can get all the Demo programs related to ALV .
