Bar code printing through Smart forms

Hi,

I need to develop barcode printing for shipping documents for various customers. Right now we are using Optio printing meaning, from SAP data is being sent to Optio server and from there data is sent to respective printers.

Is there a better way to print barcodes from SAP itself. I come across using smart forms are better method. Is it possible to print any type of bar codes using Smart forms like for Code13, Code 39, and Code128 symbology?

If possible, how to configure in SAP(version 4.6 enterprise) including details like any drivers etc.

Hi Using the charcater format you can specify the Barcodes for what ever data you want..

some are configured by sap..like code13,code 39...

5196,66478,12462 .

Hi Shiva,

Use Transaction SE73. Use System Barcodes and copy that to user user define.

You can set Height, Width,Barcode Type and Rotationn.

You can test the print/review the bar code .

Thanks for all your inputs. However I need to justify on whether I can go forward with Smartforms or not. Right now the SAP output is given to Optio server and Optio sends the barcode details to printers.

Is there any valued arguments that I can make to substantiate Smartform is better solution than other methods...

I appreciate your valuable suggestions.
